Construction Update — Green Section 10/14/26

Construction Update from RCOC

**** All planned timing is weather permitting ****

******* USPS has suspended Bradway mail delivery as covered HERE. ******

Road closures

  • Bradway is closed to through traffic and will remain closed until it is paved. Unless you live on Bradway, please take a different route.

  • The intersection of Bradway and Lahser will be fully closed again starting around 10/19 when milling begins and will remain closed until Bradway is paved. As of 10/14, the barricades have been moved aside to allow one narrow lane for emergency vehicles. This is not intended to invite traffic on Bradway. Please avoid this area - use Tuckahoe to get to Maple or Lahser (until those intersections are closed next week).

  • The intersection of Glengarry and the south side of Bradway remains closed for removal and replacement of the concrete gutter across Glengarry. The new gutter will match the new grade of the curbs on that side of Bradway. The intersection will be closed until Bradway is paved.

  • The intersections of Bradway with the cross streets will be fully closed when milling begins around 10/19 and will remain closed until the street is paved.‍ When remaining asphalt is milled off Bradway, there will be a significant drop from the side streets to the sub-grade; the drop can be as much as 9-10 inches. Allied will NOT be placing stone ramps from the side streets to the sub-grade. Please don’t move the barricades and attempt to turn onto or cross Bradway after it has been milled; doing so may cause significant damage to your vehicle that will be your responsibility to fix. Leave the barricades in place so the next person doesn’t make the same mistake. Residents who live on Bradway will need to turn onto Bradway at Cranbrook and proceed (slowly!) to their driveways.

  • Need to figure out a detour to navigate around the road closures? Click HERE for a Village map.

Why do the side street intersections have to be closed when it doesn’t look like there is construction around those intersections? Bradway normally carries significant daily traffic volumes, and there have been a number of close calls with drivers during the Green section construction work. RCOC made the decision to close Bradway to through traffic and to close the side street intersections in order to limit the traffic on the street. This is for the safety of the construction crews and will also allow Allied to work more efficiently to get Bradway paved.

Construction Schedule

Remainder of this week

  • Goretski’s is scheduled for curb installation on the east end of Bradway (Hamilton to Cranbrook) on Wednesday 10/14 and Thursday 10/15. Driveway installation will follow on Friday 10/16. Front door notices have been posted. Residents should plan to be out of their driveways for up to 14 days for curbing. Remove all vehicles you will need from the garage/driveway prior to 6:30 on the date shown on the notice, to avoid getting blocked in. See additional information about curbing and driveway access limitations HERE. See parking alternatives below. There is rain in the forecast for Thursday 10/15 and Friday 10/16. Some of the concrete work could extend into Saturday 10/17 if the weather doesn’t cooperate. We will communicate any schedule updates on a separate blog post as soon as we have the information.

  • Don’s is installing sod in Phase 1 and will start topsoil installation in Phase 2. They are also doing sprinkler fixes along Bradway.

Week of October 19

  • Milling (asphalt removal) on Bradway is scheduled to begin Tuesday October 20. Allied plans to mill the entire length of Bradway over a period of 4-5 days. See additional information about milling HERE. Residents who live on Bradway should plan that they will not have driveway access during the workday, and park outside of the construction zone before 7 am. Allied will provide golf carts to transport residents to/from their vehicles parked elsewhere during milling. To arrange transport, call 248-638-3190. ‍No parking on Bradway during milling.

  • Once milling on Bradway is complete, Allied will begin grading to prepare the sub-grade. The grading process will last a week or more, depending upon the weather and condition of the sub-grade. Bradway residents will technically be able to access their driveways during grading but should anticipate that it will be very difficult (and sometimes impossible) to get to/from their homes during the workday. The street will frequently be blocked, and the equipment cannot necessarily move aside to allow traffic through. Park outside the construction zone during the workday to avoid delays. No parking on Bradway during grading.

  • Allied will be in Phase 1 (Amberly, Endsleigh, Covington Place, Glengarry) adjusting structures (manholes, storm sewers) to the height of the final pavement. Depending on where the structure is located, this work may block the street temporarily and require traffic to detour around it.

  • Don’s will lay topsoil and sod in Phases 1 and 2 and do sprinkler repairs.

Week of October 26

  • Allied will continue grading Bradway the week of October 26.

  • On Thursday, October 29, Allied plans to pave the final layer of asphalt on Tuckahoe, Sunnydale, Hupp Cross and Morningview, but not Overhill. They will need to use Overhill for truck access during Bradway grading and paving; paving on Overhill will be scheduled in early November.

  • Don’s will be placing topsoil, sod and doing any necessary sprinkler repairs In Phases 1 and 2. They generally plan to re-install brick pavers and bluestone front walks around the time they are laying sod. Don’s may begin to lay topsoil on Bradway as well.

Week of November 2

  • Allied plans to pave the first course of asphalt on Bradway from end to end in 1-2 days the week of November 2. The second layer will likely follow quickly after the first is completed. Overhill paving (top layer) will likely be scheduled when Bradway is done.

  • Don’s will continue restoration work (topsoil and sod) on Bradway after paving.

Traffic and parking on Bradway

During milling and grading, residents should anticipate that Bradway will be very difficult to navigate during the workday. In addition to the multiple pieces of heavy equipment, a parade of gravel trucks will be backing in to be loaded with milled material, or to supply stone during grading. The construction crew will often be unable to move aside to allow any traffic through, perhaps for extended time periods. If you live on Bradway, park outside of the construction zone during the workday, which starts at 7 am and ends at 7 pm. Please respect the barricades and cones indicating the road is blocked ahead. Need to figure out at detour? Click HERE for a Village map.

If you don’t live on Bradway, avoid it altogether.

DO NOT PARK ON BRADWAY during the workday. Remove vehicles parked overnight by 6:30 am. All of the side streets provide potential parking alternatives. Please inform landscapers and other contractors they will not be able to park in the street on Bradway until paving is completed.

Parking alternatives during curbing, milling and grading

East end of Bradway

Residents on Bradway east of Hamilton will not have driveway access for up to 14 days during and after curb installation. ‍Any of the side streets north or south of Bradway are good alternatives for parking. Avoid parking on both sides of a side street, particularly near Bradway, to ensure emergency vehicles, garbage trucks and other traffic can get through. Once milling begins, residents on the east end of Bradway will need to exit Bradway at Cranbrook and navigate around to a side street for parking. Residents with mobility issues who will have difficulty walking to/from their vehicle parked on a side street should contact Mark Meszler at mmeszler@roadrehab.solutions.‍

West end of Bradway

Any of the side streets north or south of Bradway provide alternatives for parking during this time. During milling and grading, the south side of the Overhill/Bradway intersection will be used to bring trucks in/out. Please do not park on Overhill south of Bradway, especially near the intersection. With the other side street intersections closed, residents on the west end of Bradway should able to exit Bradway by going south on Overhill, and detour around to park on a different side street. See Village map HERE.

Sprinkler winterization

Don’s Restoration is responsible to fix any damage to sprinkler systems caused by the construction and would like to do so before systems are winterized. Try to hold off on sprinkler winterization as long as possible to allow Don’s time to get sod installed and your system tested. If the system is winterized before Don’s is able to complete restoration and test the system, have your contractor flag any problem area. Don’s will fix any construction damage this fall if possible, or when they return in the spring. Importantly, residents can choose to have their own contractors repair construction damage, but will not be reimbursed for doing so.

Garbage pick-up

Place your garbage at the curb (or behind the curb, if there is construction on your street) on the scheduled garbage day. Priority is supposed to be picking up as scheduled in spite of the construction. Having said that, some of the Priority drivers have been passing by streets under construction, in spite of being waved through by the construction crews. If your garbage pick-up is missed, report it to Priority Waste as soon as possible via the portal HERE or via phone to 855-927-8365. They are responsible for coming back to retrieve the missed pick-ups. Note that Priority generally will not come on Saturday for a missed Friday pick-up; instead, they will normally come sometime the following week.

Bloomfield Township has made Priority aware of the road closures at Lahser, Glengarry and other cross streets, as detailed above.

Reminders

  • Please don’t park on Bradway during the workday until the street is paved. Park in driveways or on a different street outside the construction zone.

  • For your safety and the safety of the construction crew, PLEASE SLOW DOWN in the construction zones.‍ ‍
