Mail Service Suspended on Bradway

Last week, a Postal Service truck was damaged when the mail carrier drove around the cone indicating a driveway approach was not accessible, entered anyway and ended up in the edge drain ditch. As a result, the Post Office has decided they will not deliver mail to Bradway addresses until “construction is completed.” While they have positioned this decision as a matter of carrier safety, the Post Office successfully and safely delivered the mail throughout construction of more than 10 miles of road in the Pink, Blue, Gold and Yellow sections, and in more than half of the Green section.

At this point, Bradway residents will need to go to the main post office for Bloomfield Township, located at 2050 South Blvd., just west of Opdyke Road, to request their mail. As of yesterday afternoon, the Bradway mail had not been sorted such that the workers had to go through several piles to find mail for a given address.

The Post Office did not inform the Village of this decision until contacted about the lack of delivery. Representatives at the South Blvd. Post Office have told us they do not intend to further inform residents of this decision.

Bloomfield Township officials are working with the Postmaster to remedy this situation and reinstate mail delivery.

It appears that package delivery by FedEx, UPS and Amazon has not been impacted by the Post Office decision. Allied will continue to work with the various delivery services to allow them through during construction on Bradway.
