Construction Update — Green Section 10/7/26
Construction Update from RCOC
**** All planned timing is weather permitting ****
******* USPS has suspended Bradway mail delivery as covered HERE. ******
Road closures
The intersection of Bradway and Lahser is closed and will remain closed until Bradway is paved. There is signage posted, but drivers continue to approach Lahser and end up turning around in the street or backing up. Please avoid this area - use Tuckahoe to get to Maple or Lahser.
The intersection of Glengarry and the south side of Bradway is closed for removal and replacement of the concrete gutter across Glengarry. The new gutter will match the new grade of the curbs on that side of Bradway. The intersection will be closed until the east end of Bradway is paved.
The intersections of Bradway with the cross streets are closed and will remain closed until the street is paved. Residents who live on Bradway will need to turn onto Bradway at Cranbrook and proceed (slowly!) to their driveways. When remaining asphalt is milled off Bradway, there will be a significant drop from the side streets to the sub-grade; the drop can be as much as 9-10 inches until additional stone is added in the grading process. Allied will NOT be placing stone ramps from the side streets to the sub-grade. Please don’t move the barricades and attempt to turn onto or cross Bradway after it has been milled; doing so will likely cause significant damage to your vehicle that will be your responsibility to fix.

Why are the side street intersections closed? Bradway normally carries significant daily traffic volumes, and there have been a number of close calls with drivers during the Green section construction work. RCOC made the decision to close Bradway to through traffic and to close the side street intersections in order to limit the traffic on the street. This is for the safety of the construction crews and will also allow Allied to work more efficiently to get Bradway paved.
Reminder of this week
Allied will continue stone placement and preparation for curbs on the east end of Bradway and on Cranbrook Cross.
Curb installation originally planned to begin Thursday 10/8 has been delayed until next week due to a change in Goretski’s schedule. Milling on the west end of Bradway has been rescheduled to the week of October 19.
Week of October 12
Goretski’s is scheduled for curb installation on the east end of Bradway (Hamilton to Cranbrook) on Wednesday 10/14 and Thursday 10/15. Driveway installation will follow on Friday 10/16. Front door notices will be posted about 48 hours prior to curbing. Residents should plan to be out of their driveways for up to 14 days for curbing. Remove all vehicles you will need from the garage/driveway prior to 6:30 on the date shown on the notice, to avoid getting blocked in. See additional information about curbing and driveway access limitations HERE. See parking alternatives below. Earlier in the week, Goretski’s will set the lines that will guide the curb machine; the line-setting may block driveway access for a short period of time (up to 30 minutes). Residents on a tight schedule may want to park on the side streets while this work is being done near their homes.
Don’s Restoration plans to be back in the neighborhood next week to install topsoil in Phase 2.
Week of October 19
Milling (asphalt removal) on Bradway is scheduled to begin early the week of October 19. Allied plans to mill the entire length of Bradway over a period of 3-4 days. See additional information about milling HERE. Residents who live on Bradway should plan that driveway access will be very difficult during milling, and park outside of the construction zone before the workday begins. Allied will provide golf carts to transport residents to/from their vehicles parked elsewhere during milling. To arrange transport, call 248-638-3190.
Once milling on Bradway is complete, Allied will begin grading to prepare the sub-grade. The grading process will last a week or more, depending upon the weather and condition of the sub-grade. Bradway residents will be able to access their driveways during grading, but should anticipate that the street will sometimes be blocked and they will experience delays.
Week of October 26 and beyond
Allied will continue the grading process into the week of October 26. Depending on weather and the condition of the sub-grades, it is possible that the first layer of asphalt paving on Bradway will be scheduled late that week. Allied plans to pave Bradway from end to end in 1-2 days. If the sub-grade isn’t ready the week of October 26, paving on Bradway would likely be early the week of November 2. The second layer of asphalt will likely follow quickly after the first is completed.
Residents on Bradway should plan that restoration work (topsoil and sod) will be done after paving.
Traffic and parking on Bradway
Residents should anticipate that Bradway will be temporarily blocked with construction in multiple places until the street is paved. Materials and equipment are being stored in the street on the east end of Bradway, close to where they will be used, narrowing the lanes available for traffic to pass. Please respect the barricades and cones indicating the road is blocked ahead. Need to figure out at detour? Click HERE for a Village map.
We have had several instances of residents driving past flaggers or barricades and getting very close to moving construction equipment, including driving underneath the arm of an excavator while it was moving materials. This is very dangerous for both the drivers and the construction workers. Unless you live on Bradway, avoid it altogether. If you live on Bradway, stay well back from moving equipment; be patient and wait for the flaggers or workers to clearly signal it is safe to proceed.
Allied continues to use Bradway Park for material storage and staging. Truck traffic in this area is significant. Barricades have been placed on Cranbrook Cross to indicate it is closed to thru-traffic. Respect the barricades and find an alternative route to avoid the congestion and delays in this area.
DO NOT PARK ON BRADWAY during the workday. Remove vehicles parked overnight by 6:30 am. All of the side streets provide potential parking alternatives.
Parking alternatives during curbing, milling and grading
East end of Bradway
Residents on Bradway east of Hamilton will not have driveway access for up to 14 days during and after curb installation. Any of the side streets north or south of Bradway are good alternatives for parking. Avoid parking on both sides of a side street, particularly near Bradway, to ensure emergency vehicles, garbage trucks and other traffic can get through. Residents with mobility issues who will have difficulty walking to/from their vehicle parked on a side street should contact Mark Meszler at mmeszler@roadrehab.solutions.
West end of Bradway
During the 3-4 days of milling, Bradway residents will have difficultly accessing their driveways. Any of the side streets north or south of Bradway provide alternatives for parking during this time. Once the intersections with Bradway are closed, you will need to exit Bradway at Cranbrook and detour around to a side street close to your home. See Village map HERE.
During grading, Bradway residents will have driveway access, but may experience difficulty/delays in moving along Bradway. If you are on a tight schedule, park outside the construction zone before the workday begins.
Sprinkler winterization
Don’s Restoration is responsible to fix any damage to sprinkler systems caused by the construction and would like to do so before systems are winterized. Try to hold off on sprinkler winterization as long as possible to allow Don’s time to get sod installed and your system tested. If the system is winterized before Don’s is able to complete restoration and test the system, have your contractor flag any problem area. Don’s will fix any construction damage this fall if possible, or when they return in the spring. Importantly, residents can choose to have their own contractors repair construction damage, but will not be reimbursed for doing so.
Garbage pick-up
Place your garbage at the curb (or behind the curb, if there is construction on your street) on the scheduled garbage day. Priority is supposed to be picking up as scheduled in spite of the construction. Having said that, some of the Priority drivers have been passing by streets under construction, in spite of being waved through by the construction crews. If your garbage pick-up is missed, report it to Priority Waste as soon as possible via the portal HERE or via phone to 855-927-8365. They are responsible for coming back to retrieve the missed pick-ups. Note that Priority will not come on Saturday for a missed Friday pick-up; instead, they will normally come sometime the following week.
Bloomfield Township has made Priority aware of the road closures at Lahser, Glengarry and other cross streets, as detailed above.
Reminders
Please don’t park on Bradway during the workday until the street is paved. Park in driveways or on a different street outside the construction zone.
For your safety and the safety of the construction crew, PLEASE SLOW DOWN in the construction zones.
Contacts during construction
Questions or concerns arising during construction should be addressed to Wayne Dabrowski, Project Engineer for RCOC, with a copy to Mark Meszler, Bloomfield Township representative for the project.
