Construction Update — Green Section 6/10/26
**** All planned timing is weather permitting ****
Schedule update from RCOC
Remainder of this week
Goretski’s has completed concrete curbs on the first sides of Phase 1 streets (Glengarry, Amberly, Endsleigh, Covington Place) and has begun prepping to pour concrete driveway approaches.
On Thursday 6/11, Goretski’s will begin pouring Phase 1A concrete driveway approaches in the same order as curbs were poured. Because of the high temperatures forecast for Thursday, Bloomfield Township has given permission for concrete work to begin at 6 am.
Allied will begin removing curbs and driveway approaches in Phase 2A (Tuckahoe, Sunnydale, Hupp Cross, Morningview, Drury, Overhill, in that order). They will place a temporary stone approach to allow driveway access for the next few weeks. ****Note that there can be a 2-3 hour delay between approach removal and temporary stone replacement. Residents will want to plan ahead and park outside of the construction zone if the removal work is coming down the street.**** Allied will knock on front doors before removing the driveway approach to give residents a final chance to remove vehicles. However, if no one answers the door, the work will proceed.
Don’s Restoration will follow the Allied crews in Phase 2A to address sprinkler resets/repairs as needed.
Week of June 15
Allied will begin installing underdrains in Phase 2A.
In Phase 1, Allied will backfill behind the new curbs when the concrete is ready.
Don’s Restoration will address sprinklers as necessary.
Week of June 22
Early in the week, Allied will perform underground pipe work on Sunnydale to address drainage issues during heavy rains.
Allied will backfill the underdrain trenches in Phase 2A and prepare the areas for concrete curbs.
Allied will begin work on Phase 1B — second sides of Glengarry, Amberly, Endsleigh and Covington Place — milling existing asphalt near the curb.
Looking ahead
Concrete curbs and driveway approaches in Phase 2A are currently scheduled for installation early the week of June 29. Impacted residents should plan to be out of their driveways for about 2 weeks starting early that week. See more information on concrete work and related driveway access limitations HERE. Parking recommendations and timing updates will be provided via blog post as we get closer to date Phase 2A concrete work will begin.
Friday July 3 is the federal holiday in celebration of July 4. Construction will wrap up by 3 pm on Thursday July 2 and restart on Monday July 6.
Why is water pooling in the street?
After yesterday’s heavy downpours, there were a number of areas where water pooled in the street. The soil erosion bags required in the construction zones are a likely culprit. The bags are designed to keep construction debris out of our storm and sewer systems, by filtering it as it enters the drain. They do allow water to flow, but more slowly than an open drain. Expect this to continue until the bags can be removed when construction wraps up. The underdrains, once installed, will also help speed up drainage during heavy rains.
Reminders
Please don’t park on either side of any street where there is active construction. Park in driveways or on a different street.
For your safety and the safety of the construction crew, PLEASE SLOW DOWN in the construction zones. Remind young drivers in your household to do so as well. We have had some near misses with drivers traveling far too fast on streets with active construction, often with a cell phone in their hands.
Contacts during construction
Questions or concerns arising during construction should be addressed to Wayne Dabrowski, Project Engineer for RCOC, with a copy to Mark Meszler, Bloomfield Township representative for the project.
