Construction Update — Yellow Section 8/20/25
Construction Update from RCOC
Remainder of this week
Doan will continue curbing in the Indian Mound area through Friday as described in yesterday’s blog post HERE. They will also be laying concrete driveways where curbs have been poured on Glengarry, Glengarry Circle East and some of the Indian Mound area. (See discussion below regarding asphalt driveways.)
Ft. Wayne will be in the neighborhood on Friday 8/22, adjusting drainage structures to the new curb height.
Mike’s will begin reinstating sprinklers behind the new curbs late this week, continuing into next week.
Next week
Beginning Monday 8/25, Doan will install curbs and driveway approaches in the prepared trenches on the north block of Glengarry starting at Quarton and moving south, then turning right onto the east side of Sandringham back up to Quarton. This work is expected to take Monday and Tuesday next week.
Doan will continue pouring concrete driveway approaches in the rest of the Indian Mound area, then the north block of Glengarry then Sandringham. Residents getting curbs or driveway approaches next week should plan to be out of their driveways until after Labor Day, although it is possible that concrete poured early in the week may cure sufficiently to allow driveway access for Labor Day weekend. The contractor will remove barriers from driveways once the concrete is cured sufficiently to allow vehicle traffic.
Springline will begin curb and driveway approach removals on the second sides of Yellow section streets. Removals will follow the order in which the streets will be curbed, which will change somewhat from the first sides of the streets. We will post the map for the second sides as soon as it is available.
Mike’s Landscaping will continue reinstating sprinklers in areas where the curbs have been laid.
All construction activities will wrap up and the contractors will head home by 3 pm on Friday, August 29 for the holiday weekend. Work will resume on Tuesday, September 2.
Access limitations during curbing
Please note that on the day the curbs are laid, the concrete will be wet and cannot handle foot traffic. Residents will need to navigate the gaps on both sides of the new curb. Springline will fill the area between the street and the curb a day or two later. It may take a couple of days to get the driveway approach in behind the curb. Residents who anticipate difficulty navigating over the gaps - please contact Wayne Dabrowski at wdabrowski@rcoc.org.

Driveway approaches
In the Indian Mound area where there are no sidewalks, new driveway approaches will be the same material (concrete or asphalt) as the rest of the driveway. Concrete approaches will be laid soon after the curb is set. Asphalt approaches will be poured around the time the streets are paved, likely in October. In the meantime, Springline will install stone to provide a temporary approach. For brick paver and other decorative driveways, see discussion HERE. Springline will provide temporary approaches for these driveways as well, until the permanent material can be installed.
Where there are sidewalks, Doan will install concrete driveway approaches in most cases. Cadillac will install an asphalt approach if requested by residents who currently have an asphalt driveway. To elect this option, email mmeszler@roadrehab.solutions and wdabrowski@rcoc.org.
Looking ahead
Work will be shifting to the second sides of Yellow section streets starting next week, with curb/driveway approach removal, then underdrain installation and then on to curbing. These steps will continue for several weeks. Once curbs are installed throughout the section, the contractors will begin to prepare for paving with removal of the remaining asphalt street (milling), then refurbishing and grading of the sub-grade. Paving will likely begin in October. Restoration of construction damaged areas with topsoil and sod will follow paving.
Mike’s Landscaping will begin repairing and restoring sprinklers starting next week and continuing into the fall. In this regard, residents (especially those on the “second sides” to receive curbs) are encouraged to schedule sprinkler winterization for as late as possible, to give Mike’s a chance to repair/restore the sprinklers and test them before they are drained for the season.
