Construction Update — Yellow Section 7/16/25
Construction update from RCOC
**** All planned timing is weather permitting ****
Remainder of this week
Mike’s Landscaping will continue relocating sprinklers and pulling brick pavers and other decorative materials from driveways and front walks. This work is focused on the sides of the streets that will be addressed first (see map below).
Next week
Springline will begin removing existing curbs (and asphalt covering them where applicable) and driveway approaches on the east side of Glengarry between the north and south ends of Glengarry Circle, then on the west side of East Glengarry Circle (shown in orange on the map below).
Curb and driveway approach removal
When existing driveway approaches are removed, the excavation contractor will provide a gravel temporary approach. There may be a delay of up to 2 hours between the approach removal and setting of the temporary approach. Residents will need to plan ahead if the curb/driveway approach removal operation is on their street and they need to get out of the driveway at a specific time. Arranging with a neighbor across the street to park in their driveway might be an option. Once the temporary driveway approach is set, it will be in place until the curbs are laid.
Traffic and parking during construction
In general, our streets will remain open to traffic throughout the road construction, except for a few days around paving. Even if the street is open for traffic, there WILL be times when the road is temporarily blocked by construction work or equipment. Cadillac is responsible for providing flaggers or other means of alerting drivers to temporary blockages or closures. The best option for residents throughout the project is to leave a bit early and plan some cushion if your travels take you through the construction zones.
The majority of the construction work will impact one side of a street at a time. Our experience last summer demonstrated that our roads are simply too narrow to have construction on one side of the street, plus room for traffic to pass, plus parked vehicles. For that reason, PLEASE do not park on the street during the workday when there is active construction. Park in your driveway, or on an adjacent street. We realize this is inconvenient, but it will help ease congestion on our streets and help the construction progress more efficiently. Please inform babysitters, contractors in your home, visitors, etc. of these parking limitations.
Construction sequencing in the Yellow section
Cadillac has provided the map below which depicts the general sequence in which Yellow section construction will be done. The contractors will address one side of the road through installation of curbs, then flip to the other side of the street for the same series of steps to install curb on the opposite side. This will be the case throughout the Yellow section except for the cul-de-sacs off Sandringham (Twin Maples, Aberdovey, Courtleigh, Hemsworth). To minimize disruption to the residents and facilitate a more efficient construction process, both sides of the street will be done at the same time on these 4 cul-de-sacs.
Construction sequencing for the first sides of the streets in the Yellow section will be:
West side of Glengarry Circle East and east side of Glengarry between the north and south intersections with Glengarry Circle (orange on the map below);
South side of the small segment of Indian Mound Road entering the Indian Mound area from E Glengarry Circle (green on the map below);
Indian Mound area (yellow on the map below). The contractors will address the inside of the “square” first, in the following order for the first sides of the streets in the Indian Mound area:
East side of Indian Mound South/Indian Mound Road, starting at the south end and working up to the corner with Indian Mound West; then
North side of Indian Mound Road for the short segment between Covington and where the road forks; then
At the fork, the contractor will turn left to start the inside of the “square” - west side of Indian Mound Road, then turn right at the corner onto the north side of Indian Mound Road up to the corner, then
Turn right to the east side of Indian Mound West, following it north to turn right at the corner and pick up the south side of Indian Mound West; then
South side of Indian Mound East up to corner, and turning right onto the west side of Indian Mound East; then
West side of Indian Mound Trail moving south.
West side of Glengarry north of the Circle and east side of Sandringham (pink on the map);
Cul-de-sacs off of Sandringham (blue on the map).
Construction sequencing for Yellow section as of 7-9-25
Looking ahead
Once curbs and driveway approaches have been removed, Springline will dig trenches parallel to the road into which they will install underdrain. The underdrain will be positioned under the new curbs, and is designed to gather water from lawns/sidewalks and funnel it into catch basins such that the water doesn’t get to the roadbed. Once the underdrain is laid and the ground prepped, concrete work — new curbs and driveway approaches — will be next. The contractors will complete these operations in sequence on one side of the street, then begin the same series of work steps on the opposite side of the street.
More information on planned timing of these construction steps will be provided as the schedule is further defined.
