Construction Update — Gold Section 7/23/25
Construction update from RCOC
**** All planned timing is weather permitting ****
On Friday, July 25, the contractor has permission to begin work at 6 am, with concrete pouring to begin at 7 am.
Remainder of this week
Mike’s Landscaping will begin installing topsoil and sod to restore construction-damaged areas behind the curbs on Glengarry and Williamsbury. See further discussion of the restoration work below.
This morning (Wednesday 7/23) Doan began curbing on the second sides of the remaining streets in the Gold section. Residents who will be impacted by curbing will receive a front door notice about 48 hours before the work is planned. As a reminder, once the curbing process begins, impacted residents will not be able to access their driveways for about 14 days. See discussion of the process, driveway access and parking limitations HERE.
Doan will follow a new sequence for the remaining Gold sections streets as illustrated on the map below. The order will be (changes from 7/16/25 blog post in red):
North side of Cranbrook Cross starting at Glengarry over to Hamilton, then turning left to pick up the west side of Hamilton out to Maple (marked in yellow). Driveways will be pulled on Wednesday 7/23, curbs to follow.
East side of Cranbrook Cross starting at Maple and heading north, then turning left to the east side of Hamilton up to Bradway (blue area on the map). Driveways will be pulled Thursday 7/24, curbs to follow.
East side of Clifton Road starting at Maple and moving north to Morningview, turning right to pick up the south side of Morningview between Clifton and N. Clifton, then the west side of N. Clifton (marked in orange on the map).
South side of Morningview Terrace from Overhill to Clifton, then from N. Clifton to Hamilton (marked in pink on the map).
East side of S Chewton starting at Maple, then moving to the north side of Chewton Cross starting at Hamilton (marked in green).
Driveway approaches will generally be poured within a day or two of the curb being laid.
Springline will be prepping areas for ADA ramps (where there is access from the sidewalk to the street, usually at corners).
On Thursday 7/24 and Friday 7/25, Clifton Road is scheduled to be closed between Morningview and Chewton Cross for replacement of a residents’ sewer lead. This work is unrelated to the road construction. Residents should plan to detour around this area.
Next week
Mike’s will continue restoration work on Glengarry and Williamsbury.
Doan will continue curbing work on the second sides of the remaining streets in the Gold section in the order indicated above.
Springline will be prepping areas for ADA ramps (where there is access from the sidewalk to the street, usually at corners) and filling in gaps behind curbs.
Depending on the weather, curbing work and driveway approaches should be completed on both sides of the Gold section streets by the end of July. If there is rain or temperatures are too hot to lay the concrete, Doan will pick up where they left off the following day.
Driveway approaches
As a reminder, where there are sidewalks, new driveway approaches will generally be concrete, which will create a uniform look between the concrete sidewalk and the street. Residents who previously had an asphalt approach and would prefer asphalt (vs concrete) should email Mark Meszler at mmeszler@roadrehab.solutions. Where there was a decorative driveway approach (brick pavers, borders, etc.) the new approach will generally be the same as what was removed. See clarification on decorative driveway approaches in the 6/11/25 construction update blog post HERE. Where there is no sidewalk, the new driveway approach will be the same material as the existing driveway. Residents with questions about the material to be used for their new driveway approach should contact Mark Meszler at mmeszler@roadrehab.solutions.
Parking during construction
Please avoid parking during the workday on any street where there is active construction activity. After hours, vehicles can be parked on the street but need to be removed before construction starts the following morning at 7 am. Some suggestions for parking alternatives for residents who can’t access their driveways during curbing:
Arrange with a neighbor across the street to park in their driveway.
Park outside of the Gold section — Overhill Road or Drury Lane are options, as are Bradway and streets north of Bradway.
Once the curbs and driveway approaches have been laid, the construction work will move on to other streets during the curing period. Residents will be able to park on the street, opposite of the new curbs. It usually takes about 3 days to pull the temporary driveway approach, lay the curb and lay the new driveway approach.
Glengarry and Williamsbury are not good options as there will be restoration work on these streets over the next two weeks.
Residents with electric vehicles that normally charge in the garage at night will have to make other charging arrangements for the 2-week period during which they cannot access their driveways.
Regardless of where you park your vehicle, please lock it and take the key fob and any valuables with you.
Questions during construction?
