Construction Update — Gold Section 7/16/25

Construction Update from RCOC

**** All planned construction work is weather permitting ****

Remainder of this week

  • Springline will continue installing underdrains, adding stone and grading the trenches to prepare for curbs on the second sides of streets other than Glengarry and Williamsbury.

  • Mike’s Landscaping will be reinstating sprinklers on the second sides of Glengarry and Williamsbury. Residents may be asked to turn on the reset sprinklers to ensure they are working properly.

  • Fort Wayne will be adjusting drainage structures located in/near the curbs. This work is scheduled for Tuesday 7/22.

Next week

  • Springline will be preparing the areas where ADA ramps will be located, then backfilling behind curbs that have fully cured.

  • Mike’s Landscaping will begin installing topsoil and sod to restore construction damaged areas behind the curbs on Glengarry and Williamsbury. See further discussion of the restoration work below.

  • Fort Wayne will be adjusting drainage structures located in/near the curbs. This work is scheduled for Tuesday 7/22.

  • Doan will begin curbing on the second sides of the remaining streets in the Gold section. This work is scheduled to begin Wednesday 7/23. Residents who will be impacted by curbing will receive a front door notice about 48 hours before the work is planned. As a reminder, once the curbing process begins, impacted residents will not be able to access their driveways for about 14 days. See discussion of the process, driveway access and parking limitations HERE.

The sequence in which the curbs will be laid has changed from the first sides of the streets, as illustrated on the map below, and will be:

    • East side of Cranbrook Cross starting at Maple and heading north, then turning left to the east side of Hamilton up to Bradway (blue area on the map).

    • East side of Clifton Road starting at Maple and moving north to Morningview, turning right to pick up the south side of Morningview between Clifton and N. Clifton, then turning right to pick up the west side of N. Clifton (marked in orange on the map).

    • South side of Morningview Terrace from Overhill to Clifton, then from N. Clifton to Hamilton (marked in pink on the map).

    • East side of S Chewton starting at Maple, then moving to the north side of Chewton Cross starting at Hamilton (marked in green).

    • North side of Cranbrook Cross starting at Glengarry over to Hamilton, then turning left to pick up the west side of Hamilton out to Maple (marked in yellow).

Depending on the weather, curbing work should be completed on both sides of the Gold section streets by early the week of 7/28/25.

  • Lining of underground drainage pipes that cross all or a portion of a street may possibly take place late next week. This work may involve blocking the street where the pipe is located for several hours while the lining is done. Residents will need to detour around these temporary blockages, which will be marked with signage and flaggers.

Sequencing for second side curbing work as of 7-16-25

Restoration work

Once concrete curbs and driveway approaches are cured and driveway access restored, Mike’s Landscaping will begin restoration of construction damaged areas behind the curbs. This will consist of reinstating sprinklers to appropriate locations, adding/grading topsoil, and laying sod to cover the damaged area. Given the heat of the summer, the sod will need to be watered consistently to ensure it takes root. Residents will want to turn on sprinklers in the restored areas to ensure that they are property working, then continue to water the new sod until well established. Report any sprinkler issues to Wayne Dabrowski at wdabrowski@rcoc.org, with a copy to Mark Meszler at mmeszler@roadrehab.solutions.

Where do I park?

Please refrain from parking during the workday on ANY street where there is active construction. Residents unable to access their driveways after the curbs are laid can consider the following alternatives:

  • Outside of the construction zone, including on Overhill, Morningview west of Overhill, on Bradway Blvd, or on Glengarry, Williamsbury or Hamilton north of Bradway.

  • On a street where curbs and driveway approaches have been laid on the second side, but are curing. There should be minimal construction activity on these streets.

Glengarry and Williamsbury within the Gold section should be avoided as Mike’s Landscaping will be laying topsoil and sod behind the new curbs.

Please remind babysitters, guests, landscape crews and other contractors of these parking restrictions. Keeping the streets clear during the workday will be safer for everyone, and will allow the road contractors to complete their work more efficiently.

Looking ahead

By the end of July, curbs should be completed throughout the Gold section. Mike’s Landscaping will continue restoration work street by street once the concrete cures until sprinkler repairs, topsoil and sod are completed. At that point, milling/removal of old asphalt and grading of the road base will be performed, followed by paving. Residents will likely see the first layers of asphalt installed beginning sometime in August.

Contacts during construction
Questions or concerns arising during construction should be addressed to Wayne Dabrowski, Project Engineer for RCOC, with a copy to Mark Meszler, Bloomfield Township representative for the project. Please provide your address and contact information in your email.
