Construction Update — Gold Section 9/5/25

Construction update from RCOC

Next week (week of 9/8)

  • DVM will be in the neighborhood lining clay pipes on Tuesday and part of Wednesday.

  • Mike’s Landscaping will complete topsoil/sod and sprinkler repairs. If you have construction-related damage to your sprinkler system, email Wayne Dabrowski (wdabrowski@rcoc.org) with a copy to Mark Meszler (mmeszler@roadrehab.solutions).

Week of 9/15

  • Milling will likely begin the week of 9/15. We expect to have an update on the schedule and sequencing on Wednesday or Thursday next week. Once the existing asphalt is milled off a given street, Cadillac has a limited window to complete grading and install the first layer of asphalt. See more information on the milling, grading and paving processes HERE.

Bus stops in the construction areas

The Road Commission has been in contact with BPS Transportation Department regarding the Gold and Yellow section road projects, so that BPS can adjust bus stops out of the construction zones. Changes to bus stops will be communicated directly to families from BPS. Having said that, we learned this afternoon that the bus stop normally on Hamilton and Chewton Cross/Cranbrook Cross has now been moved to Hamilton and Bradway (after an interim stop at Hamilton and Maple). Families with questions/concerns about the bus stops should speak directly with BPS. To keep everyone safe, please ensure your children walk only on the sidewalk and stay away from any and all construction work/equipment.

Swimming pool draining/closing

With fall upon us, residents will begin to schedule having their pools drained and closed for the season. While our roads are under construction, water from pools being drained cannot be released into the street, especially once the existing asphalt has been removed as described below. Pool water will soak the sub-grades and may cause failure of the new road. Residents with pools will need to ensure their contractors either drain pool water into their own yards, or truck the water away. Please be considerate of your neighbors and other residents and keep your pool water out of the street this year.

Contacts during construction
Questions or concerns arising during construction should be addressed to Wayne Dabrowski, Project Engineer for RCOC, with a copy to Mark Meszler, Bloomfield Township representative for the project.
