Construction Update — Gold Section 9/17/25
Schedule Update from RCOC
**** All planned timing is weather permitting ****
Remainder of this week (week of 9/15)
Thursday 9/18 and Friday 9/19, Miller Brothers will begin milling the first half of Gold section streets, starting on Glengarry, then moving on to Williamsbury, then Hamilton, then Morningview. Most likely, they will complete milling on Glengarry and Williamsbury on Thursday and pick up on Hamilton and Morningview on Friday. See further information below.
Springline will begin grading Glengarry on Friday.
Next week (week of 9/22)
Springline will continue grading on Glengarry, Williamsbury, Hamilton and Morningview through most of the week next week. How long the grading takes on each street will depend on the condition of the sub-grade once the asphalt is removed.
The first layer (or “lift”) of paving is tentatively scheduled for late next week or early the following week. Cadillac plans 2 paving days, likely Glengarry/Williamsbury on Day 1 and Hamilton/Morningview on Day 2.
Looking ahead
Cadillac will finish paving the first half of the Gold section early the week of 9/29.
Miller Brothers and Springline will begin milling then grading in the second half of Gold — Cranbrook Cross, the Cliftons, the Chewtons. Cadillac has not determined the sequencing of the streets at this point. We hope to have that information next week.
Paving for the second half streets will likely occur late the first week of October or early the second. Timing will depend on weather and the condition of the sub-grades.
Traffic control
There will be flaggers during milling and grading, to direct vehicles around the active construction. Please respect the flaggers’ instructions — they are for your safety and that of the construction workers. It would be wise to leave early over the next several weeks with plenty of cushion to get where you need to go on time, as you may encounter construction delays.
Garbage pick-up
Place garbage/recycling out on Thursday night/Friday morning as you would normally. If your street is scheduled for milling or grading, place the cans behind the curb - Priority can still pick them up and they will not impede milling or grading equipment. The contractor will have to work with Priority to allow garbage/recycling trucks to get through. If your pick-up is missed, call Priority directly. 855-927-8365 or 586-228-1200.
Milling and grading
See more detail about these operations HERE.
The mill will start at the south end of Glengarry, Williamsbury and Hamilton and move north. They will mill the southern block of each street, skip over Cranbrook Cross, and move to the northern block. On Morningview, the mill will move from east to west, starting at Hamilton. Milling is dusty and loud, but will only last about 1/2 day on each street. As a reminder, the mill operator and the drivers of the gravel haulers use their horns to communicate with each other as the equipment moves down the street. Residents will likely want to keep windows and doors closed to keep dust down and muffle the noise.
Reminders:
There can be no street parking during the workday for streets being milled or graded. Residents and their guests can park in their driveways, with the understanding that the road and/or the driveway may be temporarily blocked as the equipment moves down the street. If you have time sensitive appointments, particularly on the milling day, consider parking a vehicle elsewhere (see suggestions below), before 6:30 am.
Remind landscapers, lawn crews, contractors, baby-sitters, etc. of the parking limitations.
The milling and grading equipment is large and needs to make wide turns. Make sure to leave at least 100 feet of space between an intersection and your vehicle, to allow the equipment to navigate corners.
Cadillac will post “No Parking” signs where daytime street parking is not allowed. Please respect the signs. Vehicles parked in the street may be subject to towing.
Cadillac will place front door notices about 48 hours before milling. Separately notices will be placed for paving.
Where do I park?
If you aren’t parking in your own driveway, suggestions for alternatives during the daytime:
For Glengarry and Williamsbury - Park on Bradway (at least 100 feet from an intersection with a street under construction) on a street north of Bradway (Glengarry, Williamsbury, Endsleigh or Covington Place). Be aware that Doan will be curbing in the Indian Mound area Wednesday 9/17 to Saturday 9/20, and some Indian Mound residents will also be parking on streets north of Bradway.
For Williamsbury - Park on Bradway (at least 100 feet from an intersection) or a street north of Bradway.
For Hamilton — for the more southern houses, parking on Chewton or Chewton Cross will be the closest option. There may be limited space for parking on Cranbrook Cross near Maple, well away from the intersections. For the homes to the north, park on Clifton/N Clifton or Hamilton north of Bradway. Parking on Bradway at least 100 feet from an intersection is also a option.
Morningview — park on Morningview west of Overhill, on Overhill (at least 100 feet from the intersection with Morningview) or on Drury Lane. Clifton and N. Clifton are options for residents closer to Hamilton.
Wherever you choose to park, lock your car, remove valuables and take the fob with you.
