Construction Update — Gold Section 6/11/25
Parking During Construction
PLEASE do not park during the work day (7 am to 7 pm) on ANY street where there is active construction, particularly where curbs are being laid. There just isn’t enough room. Curbing equipment takes up a lot of space. And to get the curb in the right place, the equipment simply can’t adjust its position to accommodate parked cars. Temporary no parking signs will be placed to remind residents and their guests of the parking restrictions. Make sure to inform babysitters, housekeepers, lawn crews, landscapers, and any other contractor visiting your home. Our road project contractors are taking advantage of good weather and moving very quickly through the Gold section — if we can keep our streets clear of parked vehicles, they can keep up the pace. See “Where can I park” below for parking suggestions.
Construction Update from RCOC
Construction continues to move quickly in the Gold section. Planned work for the remainder of this week and next week is summarized below. ***All planned work is weather permitting.*** Also, please note that the contractors may move a bit more quickly or more slowly than planned, and weather (rain, in particular) can cause delays from the plan. For a visual of the sequencing referenced in the detail below, click HERE.
Remainder of this week
Doan Construction will be laying concrete curbs and driveway approaches on the east side of N. Glengarry and the west side of N. Williamsbury. This work is planned for Wednesday through Friday. As a reminder, residents will not have access to their driveways for about 14 days during the curbing work. The clock on the 14-day period starts when the temporary driveway approach is removed (fully or in part) and ends when the concrete is fully cured and safe for vehicle traffic. Cadillac will be placing notices on front doors of homes that will be impacted by the driveway access restrictions. See further discussion of the curbing process, including impact on parking, in the 6/4/25 construction update HERE.
Springline will continue placing underdrain on the east side of N. Clifton, south side of Chewton Cross, west side of Chewton Road, and west side of Hamilton between Morningview and Chewton Cross.
Springline will continue curb and driveway approach removal on the west side of Hamilton between Chewton Cross and Cranbrook Cross, then turning right onto the west side of Cranbrook Cross between Hamilton and Maple. They will then move to the east side of Hamilton moving from Maple to Cranbrook Cross, then turning right to complete removals on the south side of Cranbrook Cross over to Williamsbury.
Springline will start underdrain installation on Hamilton and Cranbrook Cross once they have completed the curb/driveway approach removals in those areas.
Mike’s Landscaping will be working to stay ahead of Springline, moving sprinklers back from the construction area before curb and driveway approach removal.
On Thursday 6/12, Fort Wayne will be in the Gold section adjusting the draining structures to be located in the new curbs.
Next week
Springline will continue underdrain installation on the south side of Chewton Cross (between Chewton and Hamilton), turning right onto the west side of Hamilton, then right onto the west side of Cranbrook Cross between Hamilton and Maple. They will then move to the east side of Hamilton moving from Maple to Cranbrook Cross, then turning right to complete the underdrains on the south side of Cranbrook Cross over to Williamsbury.
Doan will begin curbing operations on the west side of Hamilton starting at Bradway and moving south to Morningview, then turning right onto the north side of Morningview, then moving on to the west side of Clifton. Later in the week, probably Thursday 6/19, curbing will begin on the east side of N. Clifton moving from Clifton toward Chewton Cross, then turning right onto the south side of Chewton Cross, then right onto Chewton. See further discussion of the curbing process, including impact on parking, in the 6/4/25 construction update HERE. Residents will not have access to their driveways for about 14 days once the curbing begins.
Springline will continue underdrain installation starting where they left off on Saturday 6/14. Once the west side of Cranbrook Cross between Maple and Hamilton is completed, Springline will move to the east side of Hamilton at Maple and place underdrain up to Cranbrook Cross, then turning right onto Cranbrook Cross over to Williamsbury.
Mike’s Landscaping will continue sprinkler removals on the sides of the streets opposite the newly laid curbs, starting on N. Glengarry, then Williamsbury.
On Wednesday 6/18, Fort Wayne will be in the Gold section adjusting the draining structures to be located in the new curbs.
Looking ahead
Once the new curbs on N. Glengarry and N. Williamsbury have sufficiently cured to allow vehicle traffic, Springline will begin curb/driveway approach removals on the opposite sides of the streets, in generally the same order, starting with N. Glengarry at Maple. This work will likely begin the week of 6/23/25.
Doan will likely continue laying curb on the first side of the remaining streets in the Gold section during the weeks of 6/23 and 6/30, in the same general order as Springline has used to remove old curbs/driveway approaches and lay underdrain.
Where can I park??
Some suggestions:
Once the curbs are laid, construction will move on to other streets while the concrete cures. Park on the side opposite the new curbs during this period.
Along Bradway,
Streets north of Bradway.
For Clifton and Morningview residents, Overhill or Morningview west of Overhill are good options.
Clarification on new driveway approaches
Where there are sidewalks, new driveway approaches will generally be concrete, which will create a uniform look between the concrete sidewalk and the street. Residents who previously had an asphalt approach and would prefer asphalt (vs concrete) should email Mark Meszler at mmeszler@roadrehab.solutions. Where there was a driveway approach with brick pavers or a paver border, the new approach will include the pavers or paver border. However, where the old approach was exposed aggregate, stamped or colored concrete, or other decorative elements, the contractor will not be able to match the rest of the driveway. In these cases, the contractor will place a concrete driveway approach.
Where there is no sidewalk, the new driveway approach will be the same material as the existing driveway.
Residents with questions about the material to be used for their new driveway approach should contact Mark Meszler at mmeszler@roadrehab.solutions.
Contacts during construction
Questions or concerns arising during construction should be addressed to Wayne Dabrowski, Project Engineer for RCOC, with a copy to Mark Meszler, Bloomfield Township representative for the project.
