Construction Update — Gold Section 6/25/25
The weather has made predicting daily progress very difficult this week, as Doan was only able to pour concrete curbs/driveway in the mornings on Monday and Tuesday (6/23 and 6/24), as high temps heated the material above the 90-degree limit. Rain in the forecast for the remainder of the week could also hinder progress. The schedule below is thus dependent on the weather.
Construction schedule for the remainder of this week
Doan will be pouring concrete curbs and driveway approaches Wednesday through Friday as follows (weather permitting):
Wednesday — curbs in bright orange area on map below.
Thursday and Friday — curbs in yellow area on map below, starting with the remaining section of Chewton Cross (south side), turning right to the west side of Hamilton, then right to the west side of Cranbrook Cross. They will then jump over to the east side of Hamilton at Maple moving north, then turn right to the south side of Cranbrook Cross.
Doan will continue driveway approaches where they left off earlier this week, moving through the green area, then blue, then bright orange, then yellow (see map below). They will follow the same order as the curbing, with the goal of getting the driveways laid and cured to get residents back in their driveways within the 14-day window. With the uncooperative weather, there may be some homes that go past the 14-day mark; the contractors will do their best to minimize these situations.
Springline will be backfilling behind the curbs on Morningview and Clifton (after the driveways are placed).
Springline has begun removals on the second sides of the streets and will proceed in the same order as the first sides — west side of N. Glengarry and the north side of Cranbrook Cross over to Bradway (pink on map below), then on to the east side of N. Williamsbury (orange on the map below). After the removal and prepping the trenches, Springline will be laying underdrains on these same streets. See further discussion of curb/driveway removals and driveway access limitations HERE.
Mike’s Landscaping will continue restoring sprinklers and brick pavers on the first sides of the streets, working in the same order as the curbs were laid (see map below - pink, then orange, then green, then blue, then bright orange, then yellow).
Construction schedule for next week
On Monday/Tuesday, Doan will finish laying driveways in the yellow area on the map below.
Springline will be working on prepping areas to receive ADA ramps (access from sidewalk to street, usually at corners) and continue backfilling behind curbs (after driveways are placed).
On Monday, Fort Wayne will be adjusting structures located in the curbs.
Doan will begin placing curbs and new driveway approaches on the second sides of N. Glengarry (west side) and N. Williamsbury (east side). This work could begin as early as Monday 6/30 continue through Thursday 7/2. The curb machine will begin at the Bradway end of Glengarry and proceed south; on Williamsbury, the work will begin at Maple and proceed north. Notices will be posted on front doors about 48 hours prior to the work beginning. Once the curbing process begins, impacted residents will not be able to access their driveways for about 14 days. See discussion of the process, driveway access and parking limitations HERE.
Mike’s Landscaping will continue restoring sprinklers and brick pavers on the first sides of the streets, as indicated above.
There will be no construction work on July 4. In anticipation of the holiday, the contractors will clear out of the construction area by 3 pm on Thursday, July 3. Construction will resume on Monday July 7.
*** Note that the colors on the map highlight the order for the FIRST sides of each street. The SECOND sides of the streets are opposite the highlighted areas.***
Looking ahead
After the July 4 holiday weekend, Springline will continue with curb/driveway approach removals and underdrain installation on the seconds sides of Gold section streets with a goal of completing this work by mid-July. Curbing will follow soon after underdrains are installed. The contractors currently plan to complete curbing and driveway approaches on the second sides before the end of July. Once curbs/driveway approaches are completed on a street, the next step will be removal of existing asphalt, preparation of the road bed for asphalt, and then paving.
