Construction Update — Green Section 9/3/26
*** Please do not drain your pool into the street, especially during the road construction. Pool water can soak and deteriorate the sub-grades, which can in turn result in deterioration of the new asphalt. We have come too far and paid too much to have our new roads damaged by pool water. Pool water should be drained on your property this year. ***

Reminder of this week
Allied will continue milling the streets in Phase 2 (Tuckahoe, Sunnydale, Hupp Cross, Morningview, Drury, Overhill). Milling began 9/2 and is scheduled for 3-4 days total. While streets will technically be open to traffic during milling, residents are advised to park elsewhere during the workday; driveway approaches and the streets may be blocked and delays may by lengthy. It would be best to avoid the area if at all possible. Importantly, there can be no street parking during milling operations. Vehicles parked in the street may be towed. Allied will provide golf carts to shuttle residents between their homes and their vehicles. Call 248-638-3190 to arrange a pick-up. Parking suggestions are provided below. Allied will continue curb and driveway approach removal on both sides of Bradway, starting at Lahser and moving east. As a reminder, Allied will place a temporary stone approach to allow access once the driveway approach is removed. However, there may be a delay of 2-3 hours between removal of the old approach and placement of the stone.
Don’s Restoration will be resetting/repairing sprinklers impacted by construction.
All construction activities will wrap up by 3 pm on Friday 9/4 for the holiday weekend. Work will resume at 7 am on Tuesday 9/8.
Week of September 7
Allied will complete milling in Phase 2, then begin grading the sub-grades to prepare them for paving. The streets will be graded in the same order as milling. Driveways will generally be accessible, but residents may experience delays and need to detour around the construction equipment. If you are on a tight schedule, the best option to avoid delays will be to park outside of the construction zone while your street is being graded. Parking suggestions are provided below. Allied will complete curb and driveway approach removals on both sides of Bradway and move to edge drain installation.
Starting the week of September 7, Allied plans to close off the intersections of cross streets with Bradway, in the areas where they are working. Traffic will not be able to cross or turn onto Bradway where the intersections are closed and will need to detour around the closures. Through-traffic on Bradway will also be limited. Week of September 14
Allied plans to pave the first layer of asphalt in Phase 2 early the week of September 14 (tentative date 9/15). Timing will be dependent on weather and the condition of the sub-grades. Allied will post front door notices at least 48 hours prior to paving. As a reminder, streets being paved will be completely closed to all traffic and parking. Residents will not have access to their driveways — in or out — on the paving day. Allied will reopen the street after the asphalt is sufficiently cooled, usually by the end of the day.
Allied will complete edge drain installation on Bradway, then begin prepping the trenches for curb installation.
Looking ahead
Installation of concrete curbs and gutters on Bradway is planned for the week of September 21.
The second and final layer of paving for Phase 1 and 2 will likely be scheduled later this month.
Phase 2 milling and grading
Parking alternatives during milling/grading
Residents will not have access to their driveways on the day their streets are milled and may encounter significant delays during milling and grading. Suggested parking alternatives:
For Overhill, Morningview and Drury — park on Morningview east of Overhill, on Clifton, or on Overhill north of Bradway.
For Hupp Cross, Tuckahoe and Sunnydale — park north of Bradway on Tuckahoe or Hupp Cross.
Please do not park on Bradway or any other street where there is active construction.
Water pooling in the streets
With this week’s heavy rains, there will likely be water pooling in the streets. This is to be expected. The contractors have placed soil erosion bags in construction area drains to keep construction debris out of our combined sewer system; the bags are required by law. Water will drain through the bags, but more slowly than through an open drain. As a result, water will pool in the streets. It will drain over time. The contractor will be checking the bags and clearing those that are filled with debris, which will help the water to drain.
Additionally, in Phase 1 where the first layer of asphalt has been placed, the level of the pavement is below the concrete curb/gutter. Water on the pavement thus cannot shed from the pavement into the gutter and then to the drains. This will be remedied when the second layer of pavement is laid, likely later this month.
Garbage pick-up
Place your garbage at the curb (or behind the curb, if there is construction on your street) on the scheduled garbage day. Priority is supposed to be picking up as scheduled in spite of the construction. Having said that, some of the Priority drivers have been passing by streets under construction, in spite of being waved through by the construction crews. If your garbage pick-up is missed, report it to Priority Waste as soon as possible via the portal HERE or via phone to 855-927-8365. They are responsible for coming back to retrieve the missed pick-ups. Note that Priority will not come on Saturday for a missed pick-up; instead, they will come sometime the following week. Garbage will be delayed one day next week due to the Labor Day holiday; Priority will be in the neighborhood on Saturday 8/12 instead of Friday.
Reminders
Please don’t park on either side of any street where there is active construction. Park in driveways or on a different street.
