Construction Update — Gold Section 6/18/25

Construction Update from RCOC

**** All planned timing is weather permitting. ****

Remainder of this week

  • In spite of today’s on and off rain, Doan was able to complete the curbs on Clifton, N. Clifton up to Chewton Cross, Chewton Cross over to Chewton, and part of Chewton (green on the map below). Tomorrow, they will complete Chewton, then move to the rest of N. Clifton and part of Hamilton (blue on the map). They will continue on Thursday and Friday this week in the order announced yesterday (in the yellow area). With more rain in the forecast, the curbs on the streets marked in yellow may take until Monday 6/23.

  • Doan has set the concrete driveway approaches on Glengarry and Williamsbury. They will continue laying driveway approaches in the order the curbs were placed — first Morningview and Clifton (highlighted in green on the map below) then to streets highlighted in blue. This work will continue for the remainder of this week and all of next week. Driveway approaches will generally be laid within a day or two of the curb being placed.

  • Mike’s Landscaping will begin resetting sprinklers where the curbs have already been laid, starting on Glengarry, then moving to Williamsbury, generally following the order in which the curbs were placed.

  • Springline will be saw-cutting and prepping for removals on the second sides of the streets in the Gold section starting Wednesday 6/18.

Next week

  • Mike’s Landscaping will continue resetting sprinklers in the areas where curbs have been laid.

  • Once the curbs have cured on the east side of Glengarry, Springline will begin curb/driveway approach removals on the west side. Springline will then move on to the other streets in the Gold section, covering the opposite sides of each street in the same order as the first sides — N Glengarry and Cranbrook Cross over to Bradway (pink on the map below), then Williamsbury (light orange on the map below), then on to Hamilton, Morningview and Clifton (green on the map), etc. Springline plans to complete the removals on the second sides of Gold section streets before the July 4 holiday weekend.

  • Doan will continue laying driveway approaches, as discussed above.

Looking ahead

Once sprinklers have been reset behind the new curbs, Mike’s Landscaping plans to place topsoil and sod, timing the work to start after Springline has completed curb preparation on the opposite side of the street. This means that sod may be placed in the July or August. Residents will need to have their sprinkler systems up and running to water the sod once established. Those who planned to leave their systems off this summer may want to arrange for the systems to be activated.

There will be no construction work on July 4. In anticipation of the holiday, the contractors will clear out of the construction area by 3 pm on Thursday July 3. Construction will resume on Tuesday July 7.

Parking during curbing operations

When curbs and new driveway approaches are placed, residents will not be able to get vehicles into or out of their driveways for about 14 days. Barriers will be placed across driveways to mark the areas that are not accessible. Once the concrete curbs and driveway approaches are sufficiently cured, the contractor will remove the barriers.

As a reminder, vehicles will not be able to park during the workday on any street where curbs or driveway approaches are being laid - there is not sufficient space for parked cars and the construction equipment. Please ensure all members of your household, plus babysitters, landscapers and any other contractors or guests are aware of the parking limitations. Temporary “No Parking” signs have been placed along the streets opposite of where the curbs and driveway approaches will be laid.

Parking suggestions

While curbs are being laid for the rest of this week in the areas marked in blue, bright orange and yellow on the map above, parking options during the workday include:

  • Outside of the construction zone completely — Overhill, Bradway, Hamilton north of Bradway;

  • Where curbs/driveway approaches are already completed and are curing — Williamsbury or Glengarry.

Safety matters

With school out, we are seeing kids on bikes and scooters on the streets in the construction zones, even while construction equipment is operating. This is creating a dangerous situation. The equipment operators simply cannot always see kids on bikes or scooters (or pedestrians), and cannot hear them. And the equipment isn’t as nimble as a car or SUV. For safety's sake, scooters, bikes and pedestrians need to avoid using the streets in the Gold section during the workday.
