Construction Update — Gold Section 5/28/25
Project update from RCOC:
Planned construction work for the remainder of this week and next week, weather permitting, is summarized below. Planned construction timetables provide a general guideline; actual construction may progress more quickly or more slowly, depending on conditions encountered, weather, etc.
Remainder of this week:
Springline has completed driveway approach and curb removal on the east side of N. Glengarry and north side of Cranbrook Cross from Bradway to N. Glengarry. They have moved on to the west side of N. Williamsbury, several days ahead of schedule.
Springline is also removing sod from the right-of-way (ROW), ahead of curb removal. Sod removal has been completed on Hamilton (west side) from Bradway to Morningview, and is in process on the north side of Morningview. Once sod removal on the north side of Morningview is completed, Springline will move on to the west side of Clifton and so on, generally following the sequencing discussed below.
Mike’s Landscaping will continue moving sprinklers out of the ROW, after sod removal and staying ahead of the curb/driveway approach removal.
Underdrain installation will begin as early as this week, starting with N. Glengarry. The underdrain will go in the prepared trenches created after the curbs are removed.
Next week
Springline will continue curb and driveway approach removal on N. Williamsbury.
Mike’s Landscaping will continue sprinkler work, staying ahead of curb removals.
Sod removal will continue through the Gold section in the sequence below.
Underdrain installation will continue along N. Glengarry, then moving onto N. Williamsbury.
Late in the week, Fort Wayne will begin structure adjustments, focusing on adjusting drainage structures located in the curbs.
The contractors plan to work 7 am to 7 pm, Monday through Saturday as permitted by Bloomfield Township.
Planned sequencing — Gold Section
Cadillac Asphalt plans to address streets in the Gold section in the following order (see map HERE):
East side of N. Glengarry, plus the north side of Cranbrook Cross between Bradway and Glengarry; then
West side of N. Williamsbury; then
West side of Hamilton from Bradway to Morningview; then
North side of Morningview and west side of Clifton Road; then
South/east side of N. Clifton from Clifton to Chewton Cross, turning onto the south side of Chewton Cross; then turning onto west side of Chewton Road; then
Remainder of Chewton Cross (south side, from Chewton to Hamilton); then
West side of Hamilton from Chewton Cross to Cranbook Cross; then
West side of Cranbrook Cross out to Maple; then
East side of Hamilton from Maple to Cranbrook Cross, turning the corner to the south side of Cranbrook Cross, over to N. Williamsbury.
Lastly, the west side of N. Clifton and the west side of Hamilton, from Chewton Cross to Morningview.
Once curbs have been laid, the same series of construction steps will be done on the opposite sides of the streets, generally in the same sequence.
Looking ahead
Once the underdrain has been laid, the next step in the construction process is installation of new concrete curbs and new driveway approaches. Doan Construction is the sub-contractor that will be preforming this work. When the curbs and new driveway approaches are installed, residents will not have access to their driveways for about two weeks. This two-week period includes the time to install the new curbs/driveway approaches, followed by time for the new concrete to cure.
Curbing is scheduled to begin in the Gold section as early as Monday, June 9, starting on the east side of N. Glengarry. Cadillac will place notices on the front doors of homes that will be impacted by the curbing process, about 48 hours prior to the work. This will give residents time to plan alternative parking arrangements for the 2 weeks during which they do not have access to their driveways.
In general, while the contractor is on the street laying the curbs, vehicles will need to park on a different street during the workday (7 am to 7 pm). Once the curbs and driveway approaches are completed, the contractor will move on to other streets, and street parking will be available on the side opposite the new curbs while the concrete cures.
More information on timing of curbing will be provided in next week’s construction update.
