Construction Update — Gold Section 10/29/25 (with date changes noted)
Construction update from RCOC
*** updated dates are shown in red ***
**** 11/3 updates are shown in blue ****
***** All planned work is weather permitting *****
Remainder of this week
Springline will prep an M-opening across Chewton Cross at N. Clifton on Wednesday 10/29; Doan will pour the concrete on Thursday 10/30. The intersection will be closed for about 5-6 days starting 10/29; drivers will need to detour around the closure.
Doan will be pouring new concrete in several locations where milling or paving equipment damaged the curbs.
On Saturday 11/1 Friday 10/31, Springline will remove the asphalt from the street in several spots that need to be repaved. These areas will be coned off until new asphalt is installed on Monday 11/3.
Next week
On Monday 11/3, Cadillac will install asphalt driveway approaches for a handful of Gold section homes. Impacted residents will not be able to get into/out of their driveways for most of the day, to allow prep time and 2 layers of asphalt. Parking in the street (leaving at least 150 feet between your vehicle and the driveway so the equipment has room to navigate) will be the easiest option.
Monday 11/3 Wednesday 11/5, Cadillac will also pour asphalt in the spots Springline removed on Saturday. This work may block the street for short periods of time, requiring traffic to detour. There will be flaggers directing traffic.
On Tuesday 11/4 and Wednesday 11/5 Thursday 11/6 and Friday 11/7, Cadillac will pour the final course of asphalt paving. Streets shown in yellow on the map below will be paved on Tuesday Thursday; streets shown in blue will be paved Wednesday Friday. See further information and parking suggestions below.
Mike’s Landscaping will complete sprinkler repairs and topsoil/sod around the asphalt driveway approaches. Sleeves will be installed under driveways or sidewalks for irrigation lines on Monday 11/3 and Tuesday 11/4 Wednesday 11/5; Mike’s will repair sprinklers after the sleeves are installed. Topsoil and sod will follow irrigation system repairs.
The M-opening at N. Clifton and Chewton Cross will be removed on Monday 11/3 and a new one poured on Tuesday 11/4 as the concrete was damage. Barriers will be placed around the new concrete. DO NOT REMOVE THE BARRICADES AND DRIVE OVER THE NEW CONCRETE, even if you are in a hurry or angry/frustrated by the inconvenience. If the concrete is damaged by traffic before it is ready, we will have to live with the damage.
Week of November 10
On Thursday 11/6 Monday 11/10 and Tuesday 11/11 (after final paving), Fort Wayne is scheduled to adjust structures (manholes) in the roadways. Cadillac has paved over the previously lowered structures. Fort Wayne will remove the asphalt, raise the structures to the level of the new pavement and install a concrete collar around the structure cover. This work will move from structure to structure throughout the Gold section. The contractors may block streets temporarily, depending on the location of the structure in the roadway. Traffic will need to detour around the work. The concrete collars will require 3-5 days to cure; cones will be placed around the collars to alert drivers to detour around them.
Havener will reline structures in the road once the concrete collars have cured.
Mike’s Landscaping will wrap up remaining restoration items (walks, sprinklers, topsoil and sod).
Final paving — access and parking restrictions
The final layer of paving — the wearing course — is the surface on which we will drive for many years. As with the first course, streets being paved will be completely closed to all traffic and parking.
On the paving day, Cadillac will first spray “tack” over the current asphalt. The tack is like a black tar used to “glue” the two layers of asphalt together. Do not drive, bike or walk across the tack — it will stick to tires/shoes/cars, will track onto driveways, etc. and cannot be removed. The contractors will not be responsible for attempting to remedy tack that gets on any surface in such circumstances.
Day 1 paving — Glengarry, Hamilton, Chewton and Clifton will be paved south-to-north. Asphalt trucks will be staged on Bradway and back into the streets to supply the pavers. Trucks will back in from Cranbrook Cross to supply the south blocks of Hamilton and Glengarry; trucks will back in from Morningview to supply Clifton. Trucks will back in from Bradway to supply the Chewton, and the north blocks of Hamilton and Glengarry. Residents are advised to avoid Cranbrook Cross, Morningview and Bradway on the Day 1 paving day.
Parking for Day 1 paving. Cadillac will place “No Parking” signs where parking is not allowed:
Glengarry residents can park on Williamsbury or any street north of Bradway.
Hamilton residents can park on Morningview near N. Clifton, on Williamsbury or on N. Clifton.
Chewton residents can park on N. Clifton. (Don’t park on Chewton Cross as trucks will need to use that street to supply the paver.)
Clifton residents should park on Overhill south of Morningview, leaving at least 150 feet between your vehicle and the corner with Morningview.
PLEASE do not park near the corners with Bradway or Cranbook Cross. Avoid parking on Morningview near Clifton as asphalt trucks will be backing in from this area and need room to navigate.
Day 2 paving - Williamsbury will be paved south to north, with trucks backing in from Bradway or Cranbrook Cross. Morningview will be paved east to west with trucks backing in from Overhill. Chewton Cross will be paved east to west; N. Clifton will be paved from south to north. Trucks for both of these will be backed in from Morningview.
Parking for Day 2 paving. Cadillac will place “No Parking” signs where parking is not allowed:
Williamsbury residents can park on Glengarry or north of Bradway.
N Clifton and Chewton Cross residents can park on Clifton. Leave plenty of space between your vehicle and any corner.
Morningview residents can park on Overhill south of Morningview, or on Hamilton north of Morningview. Leave plenty of space between your vehicle and any corner.
Cranbrook Cross residents should park on Glengarry or Hamilton south of Cranbrook Cross, leaving plenty of space between your vehicle and a corner.
Streets marked in YELLOW will be paved on Day 1; streets marked in BLUE will be paved on Day 2.
Garbage pick-up
Place garbage/recycling out on Thursday night/Friday morning as you would normally. The contractors will have to work with Priority to allow garbage/recycling trucks to get through. If your pick-up is missed, call Priority directly. 855-927-8365 or 586-228-1200.
