Additional Funding from Road Commission for Green Section
December 3, 2025
Bloomfield Township has confirmed a commitment from the Road Commission for an additional $500,000 contribution toward construction costs in the Green section. The contribution will be funded by monies the Road Commission expects to receive from the $250 million set aside for local roads in the recently passed state budget.
With this additional commitment, the Green section cost will be reduced by more than $2,500 per parcel—from an estimated $52,570 per parcel to approximately $50,000 per parcel.
The Road Commission has made clear that this is a one-time commitment for the Green section project in 2026. If the Green section residents choose not to move forward to fix their roads next summer, this funding will no longer be available.
Questions we have heard:
How will the Green section assessment compare with other sections, after this new RCOC contribution?
With the added $500k contribution from RCOC for the Green section, assessments for the 5 sections compare as follows:
Yellow section (final) $57,699
Gold section (final) $50,737
Green section (estimate) $50,005
Pink section (final) $48,162
Blue section (final) $42,270
Why is RCOC supporting the Green section? Why didn’t the other sections receive a similar contribution from RCOC?
Per a Road Commission representative: “Bloomfield Village Green SAD is considered unique in many aspects including size, costs, and completion of a subdivision. We have provided this support because of the time critical nature of this project.”
The additional RCOC contribution to the Green section is funded by new monies RCOC expects to receive from the state, under legislation passed in the fall of 2025. No such funding source was available for 2024 or 2025 construction in the other sections.
Does RCOC plan to make similar contributions to other SADs going forward?
RCOC has specifically stated that the contribution they are making to the Green section is a one-time commitment and not precedent setting for future SADs. While they may be working on a program to support future SADs, that program has not been established. Thus, there can be no assurance that there would be Road Commission financial support for future SADs. If Green section residents choose not to approve their SAD for 2026 construction, we cannot count on similar support from the Road Commission in the future.
