Construction Update — Gold Section 8/6/25
Construction update from RCOC
**** All planned timing is weather permitting ****
Remainder of this week and all of next week
Mike’s Landscaping will continue putting sprinklers back in place on the second sides of the streets. Please test your systems once the sprinklers are back in and email Wayne Dabrowski (wdabrowski@rcoc.org) if additional repairs are needed.
Mike’s will continue topsoil/sod restoration work on Hamilton, Morningview, the Cliftons, the Chewtons and Cranbrook Cross (the rest of the Gold section streets). They anticipate placing sod on the prepared topsoil on Hamilton, etc. starting Wednesday 8/6; they will continue with a load of sod or two per week for the next few weeks, until the restoration work is completed throughout the Gold section. Residents will want to turn sprinklers back on to water the new sod once it is laid. Sod needs a lot of water in the first weeks after it is placed to ensure it takes root; when it is hot, it may need to be watered twice a day. Try to keep the sod damp for best results.
Looking ahead
Restoration work will continue in the Gold section for the next few weeks. Cadillac anticipates starting the paving process after Labor Day. This will include removal of remaining asphalt from the rest of the road (milling), removal of damaged sub-base, adding/removing stone base as needed, grading of the sub-grade, and then two layers of paving. On the day a street is paved, it will be completely closed to all traffic and parking. Paving will begin at 7 am, and residents will not have access to their driveways or the road until the asphalt is sufficiently cooled. On the first layer of asphalt, residents are usually able to access the street by the end of the day; on the second layer, it may take until the following morning for access. We are currently discussing the logistics of paving, with consideration of where residents will park when their streets are paved. Stay tuned.
