Construction Update — Gold Section 10/8/25
Construction update from RCOC
***** All planned timing is weather permitting *****
Remainder of this week
Miller Brothers will continue milling on remaining Gold section streets — Cranbrook Cross, Chewton Cross, Chewton and the Cliftons. See discussion below regarding this operation, including suggestions for daytime parking.
Springline is scheduled to begin grading the milled streets on Thursday 10/9. This work will continue into next week.
On Saturday 10/11, Williamsbury will be closed at Maple Road to prepare for installation of a concrete M-opening (essentially, a gutter across the road) on Monday 10/13. This intersection will be closed to all traffic for about a week. Signage will be placed on both sides of the closure. Glengarry and Hamilton will be reopened at Maple on Saturday and will provide alternate routes for Williamsbury traffic to access Maple. Springline will also do the prep work for M-openings at the Bradway intersections with Glengarry, Williamsbury and Hamilton (the second halves, to complete the gutter across the entire street). Doan plans to pour the concrete for all 4 locations on Monday 10/13.
Next week
Springline will continue grading on Cranbrook Cross, the Chewtons and Cliftons on Monday 10/13 and Tuesday 10/14 in preparation for paving on Wednesday. Once the grade is finalized, they will place cones at various intervals along the road. Please drive slowly on the final grade to avoid damaging it before it is paved.
On Wednesday 10/15, Cadillac is scheduled to pave Cranbrook Cross, the Chewtons, and the Cliftons with the first layer of asphalt. These roads will be completely closed to ALL traffic and parking. Residents will not have access — in or out — to their driveways until the road is reopened. See further information below.
Concrete M-openings (gutter across the roadway) will be installed on the second sides of the Hamilton, Williamsbury and Glengarry intersections with Bradway. One lane will be open to traffic.
M-openings will be installed at a number of the intersections with Cranbrook Cross, Cliftons, Chewtons and Morningview. Work to prep the M-openings and pour the concrete will begin soon after the 10/15 paving work is completed. There will be some intersections that will be closed about a week for this work. More detail on locations, timing and detours will be provided next week.
Milling and grading
During milling and grading, residents will have access to their driveways, although they may experience delays as the equipment moves along the street. NO STREET PARKING IS PERMITTED DURING MILLING, GRADING OR PAVING. Vehicles parked in the street during the workday are subject to towing.
Springline will do a final grade on each street the day before it is scheduled for paving. There will be barrels at various intervals along the street. Drive slowly to avoid damaging the subgrade.
See additional information on milling and grading HERE.
Paving on 10/15
For the paving on October 15, Cadillac will utilize an Eschelon paving process - two pavers side-by-side with a slight offset laying the asphalt across the entire road. Rollers will then mesh the two asphalt streams together while they are hot such that there is no seam in the middle.
Cranbrook Cross will be paved west to east, starting at Maple. Asphalt trucks will be staged on Bradway and back into Cranbrook Cross to supply the paver. For Chewton and the Cliftons, the paver will move from Maple north to Morningview; Chewton Cross will be paved from Hamilton toward Clifton. Asphalt trucks will be staged on Overhill and Bradway, and will back down each street from Morningview.
The asphalt will be very hot when laid — do not walk on it or allow your pets to do so. Once the asphalt has sufficiently cooled, Cadillac will reopen the street.
As indicated above, streets will be completely closed to all traffic and parking on the paving day. Please inform lawn/landscape crews of the scheduled paving day and request that they come on a different day.
Parking suggestions
Cadillac will place “No parking” signs where parking is prohibited during milling, grading and paving. This will include areas on Bradway, Morningview and Overhill where the asphalt trucks will be staging or where the space is needed for the equipment to navigate turns.
Suggestions for parking during milling, grading and paving of Cranbrook Cross, Chewtons and Cliftons:
Cranbrook Cross — park on Glengarry, Williamsbury or Hamilton, leaving about 150 feet between your vehicle and a corner.
Chewtons and Cliftons — park on Hamilton, Drury Lane, or Morningview west of Overhill. Overhill is an also option during milling and grading.
Please do not park on Morningview or Overhill on the paving day as it will be used for staging/backing in asphalt trucks. Please refrain from parking where there are “no parking” signs.
Garbage pick-up
Place garbage/recycling out on Thursday night/Friday morning as you would normally. If your street is scheduled for milling or grading, place the cans behind the curb - Priority can still pick them up and they will not impede milling or grading equipment. The contractor will have to work with Priority to allow garbage/recycling trucks to get through. If your pick-up is missed, call Priority directly. 855-927-8365 or 586-228-1200.
